PONY CAMP 2016
It was an eventful July with three sessions of Pony Camp: a three day mini session with young beginners (The Littles), a five day session of 6-11 year old riders (The Middles) and a three day mini session with advanced riders over 12 years (The Role Models). The Littles worked on basic grooming, leading and riding each day, ventured out of the ring for a trail ride, participated in a daily lesson (i.e. what horses eat and identifying pieces of tack) and worked so diligently on their beautiful crafts. The Middles worked on various riding techniques (even some bareback gymnastics!), were very attentive while participating in a daily lesson (i.e. trailering ponies and training techniques for young ponies) and made incredible crafts. The final day out on The American Tobacco Trail was a lot of fun. The Role Models sweated it out in the heat, starting off with a lesson with a focus on effective use of the seat, cantering and jumping, then moving from one pony to the next to work on various training and riding techniques. They worked incredibly hard, handled some younger, greener ponies very well, and covered a lot of ground. Thank you, again, to camp counselor Courtney, part time camp counselor Diane, and our first time volunteer camp counselor, Lila. Can't wait til next summer!...
